Research of Personal Interested:
What interests me most is People, and in my view the seemingly mundane interactions between people are key to life. It is the simple acts of living which make life enjoyable. Much of the joy of life is experienced through simple acts, such as a hug, a chat, a smile, meeting for coffee…..
Life can be thought of as the summation of experiences or moments. It is often said that it is the big moments of achievement flash in front of your eyes as your life comes to an end. This may or may not be true, however I believe that less grand, but otherwise key, moments are what enrich, and provide the building blocks for a happy life. For my project I decided to study and capture such moments, as experienced in within my extended family.
I feel that when people are relaxing, and their guard is down, true relationships are on view and a window opens. It is at this time that soles and spirits of the people come in to view. Interactions are most natural and “real”. It is these moments essence of these moment that I want to capture and express in my work.
At present I have a particular interest in the works of Gustav Klimt, Jackson Pollok and Toulouse Lautrec. I like using vibrant, luxurious, passionate colours, combined with curvy lines and symmetric shapes to provide strong composition and form. I my goal was to take elements from all the styles above, making it my own, allow me to poetically express the mood and capture how special moment the moment really is.
In the Last project I developed a painting technique influenced by the artists mentioned previously. It allowed my to produce images with a strong impact.
I would like to use this project to further develop the technique, pushing its limits and possibilities.
